Funky Finger Finger Trainer - hydraulic prototype
First prototype of the self adjusting finger trainer using hydraulics.
This variant used pneumatic cylinders filled with water and "omega" shaped pulleys for the finger edges.
The hydraulic cylinders were hooked up so that there was equal force on all of them. If one of the cylinders moved in, the other three would move out.
Pros:
- Omega shaped pulleys provided nice proprioception and made the edge less friction dependent.
- Auto adjustment was really smooth.
Cons:
- It leaked.
- Finger edge depth wasn't adjustable.
- Finger spacing was fixed.
- Bulky.
